Pantry Soup and Great Book

I love soup. I especially love soup that can be thrown together with things in the pantry. I really like this cookbook for just this reason.

Cooking Light Fresh Food Fast: Over 280 Incredibly Flavorful 5-Ingredient 15-Minute Recipes
You should probably get it. So you can make this soup.

At 200 calories per serving, you really can't go wrong.

I also read an incredible book.
Redeeming Love
You should read this too. Its moving. I makes you brush you bible off, and pray again. It reminds you how incredible it is to be forgiven. And how awesome reading a good book is.

I think I'm slipping into my old habits. I came out of it for a month. I firnessed. I crafted. I revived my blog. I feel like its slipping. I nap more. My apartment is messy. I have incomplete projects and a bad budget. I'm slipping. But its so much harder to have a good sparkly mood in the face of a mundane repetitive life. Its also hard to jump and change it. One day one of those feelings will win. And I hope things change for the better then.

I never though I would say it. But I really miss school.

Tuna Burgers

Busy busy weekend, so I am behind on my blogging. This weekend I went to Put in Bay. It was super fun despite the heat wave.

So I made these last week and I am just now having time to blog them. They are super yummy and filling. I love tuna. High protein, low calorie. If you can get past the price tag of real tuna steaks ($15.99/pound) these are totally worth it. They are also fun cause they are sliders. So you get to eat 2 and not feel bad.

Another Rachel Ray look and cook find.
1. Mix up the patties
2. Lay them in bread crumbs and cook in skillet
Yum
3. Dress them in lettuce, ginger, wasabi, cucumber. Yum.

Happy 4th of July!!

Today is special for 2 reason. Obviously its the 4th of July. Yay for that. And paid holiday's. But it is ALSO
Boomer's 10th birthday. For those of you who question if its actually his birthday. A little history on boomer. We got boomer from my uncle. My uncle had the collie that makes up half of boomer, and his sister in law had the lab, that is the other half. So we really know that the 4th is his birthday. Thats why we named him boomer after all.

Lets take a walk down memory lane, Boomer was the cutest puppy ever.

Today for his birthday. He got 2 new toys
The left is this giant cookie thing in this rubber toy. He loves it. The right is these like soft plush squeky toy thing. He loves it too. He has been bringing it to me to throw for him all day.

Boomer also loves can food. So I got it for him too. He especially likes the kind with pictures of a dog who looks like him on it.

Also to celebrate the 4th of July. Alex and I made sangria. New favorite. Same recipe from a few posts ago. To celebrate the 4th I made a flag on an eggo with blueberries, raspberries, and bananas. Yummy and festive.
We made mango pineapple salsa. Also yummy. Though to be honest all the citrus was a little much for me.
Alex is really into Mint Juleps these days. So he splurged on the good stuff, wood ford reserve and brought it to the party.
We decided to make roasted asparagus. Super yummy.
When I first brought my grill a few weeks ago alex and I googled, how to cook the perfect steak. It has not made us feel like professionals. Works like a charm. Tastes like candy. This is the recipe.
The feast. T bone steak, marinated in lawry's steak chop, with salt, pepper and garlic power. Asparagus with Manchego cheese. And bush's grilling beans.
 Cooked to perfection.
To keep up with the festivities, red velvet cake by the slice from Geagle, with blueberries. Simply perfect.

I hope your 4th of July was awesome.
